ISIS Reportedly Kills 300 Iraqi Soldiers in Chemical Attack – FLASHBACK: ISIS Seized Chemical Weapons Facility in July

I have two different sources saying ISIS has used chemical weapons to kill 300 Iraqi soldiers in Saqlawiyah, Iraq. First, OneIndia reported on Friday:

The Islamic State (IS) terrorist group has reportedly launched a chemical attack on Iraqi forces in Saladin province, media reports claimed on Friday.

The attack took place Wednesday and Thursday in the town of Dhuluiya, and left around a dozen people and army personnal affected, Press TV reported citing local media.

Dhuluiya has been under IS control for more than two months.

Second comes from IraqiNews today:

Islamic Dawa party MP Ali al-Badri said, at a press conference at the parliament building in the presence of a number of deputies of Diwaniyah province and attended by IraqiNews.com that “the terrorist organization ISIS used chlorine gas for the first time in the region of Saqlawiyah after trapping more than 400 troops, resulting in the deaths of many of them due to suffocation while the terrorist gangs detonated car bombs within the brigade headquarters.”

Back in July, ISIS took control of an chemical weapons plant:

The Islamic State extremist group (Isis) has taken control of a vast former chemical weapons facility north-west of Baghdad, where 2,500 degraded chemical rockets filled decades ago with deadly nerve agent sarin or their remnants were stored along with other chemical warfare agents, Iraq has said in a letter circulated at the United Nations.

The US played down the threat from the takeover, saying there were no intact chemical weapons and it would be very difficult to use the material for military purposes.

Uh-huh. Right.

Now, if this is true, and so far, I don’t have reason to think it isn’t, it really bolsters my belief that Assad wasn’t the one who launched the chemical weapons attack in Syria. It was the rebels.

What do you think?
